317L stainless steel is a low carbon， high molybdenum austenitic stainless steel. It is a highly corrosion-resistant alloy with excellent resistance to acidic and alkaline solutions， especially in chloride environments.The low carbon content of 317L stainless steel makes it more resistant to the sensitization and subsequent intergranular corrosion that can occur in certain high-temperature applications. High molybdenum content (up to 3%) provides excellent resistance to pitting and crevices in corrosive environments.Due to its excellent corrosion resistance， 317L stainless steel is commonly used in applications that require high corrosion resistance， such as chemical processing plants， pulp and paper mills， and the food and beverage industry. It is also used in architectural applications such as roofing and cladding of buildings in coastal environments.
