2. On pierced tubing, the nickel may be 11.0–16.0%.
3.For small diameter or thin walls, or both, where many drawing passes are required, a carbon maximum of 0.040% is necessary in grades TP304L and TP316L. Small outside diameter tubes are defined as those less than 0.500 in. [12.7 mm] in outside diameter and light wall tubes as those less than 0.049 in. [1.24 mm] in average wall thickness.

Characteristic
316L stainless steel contains molybdenum, which makes its corrosion resistance better than 304 stainless steel, able to resist the erosion of chlorides, so in the marine environment, chemical industry, oil and gas industry, etc. are widely used.
Its maximum carbon content is 0.03 per cent, a property that reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion and makes 316L stainless steel suitable for use in applications where annealing is not possible after welding.316L stainless steel is easy to cut, form and weld to meet different processing and fabrication requirements.
Through appropriate cold working and heat treatment, 316L stainless steel can obtain high strength and toughness, suitable for some application scenarios with high mechanical loads.And it has good oxidation resistance in a specific temperature range, such as in intermittent use below 1600 ℃ and in continuous use below 700 ℃.
In addition, 316L stainless steel also has the advantages of non-magnetic and hygienic properties and is suitable for food processing, medical devices, marine engineering, construction and other fields.
