What the Difference Between Sanitary Seamless and Welded Pipe?

Sanitary are produced by piercing a solid billet of stainless steel and then drawing it over a mandrel to create the desired shape and size. This process results in a pipe with a smooth, continuous surface that is free from any welds or seams.

Sanitary welded pipes are made by rolling a flat strip of stainless steel into a tube shape and welding the edges together using a Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding process. This process can result in a pipe with a slightly uneven surface due to the presence of the weld seam.

Both types of pipes can be used in sanitary applications as long as they meet the required standards for cleanliness, corrosion resistance, and surface finish. However, are generally preferred in applications where a completely smooth surface is required to prevent the buildup of bacteria and other contaminants.
