This specification covers grades of nominal wall thickness, stainless steel tubing for services requiring general corrosion resistance, with particular emphasis on resistance to stress corrosion cracking. These steels are susceptible to embrittlement if used for prolonged periods at elevated temperatures.
S31803 steel is more than twice that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel, and it has sufficient plastic toughness for forming. It has better corrosion resistance than ordinary 316L austenitic stainless steel, and super duplex stainless steel has higher corrosion resistance. In addition, it also has good resistance to localized corrosion. Compared with austenitic stainless steel with the same alloy content, its wear resistance, corrosion resistance and fatigue corrosion resistance are all better than austenitic stainless steel.
