HFW solid fin tube is the abbreviation of high frequency welded spiral solid fin tube. Spiral fin tubes offer designers high thermal efficiency and a compact design solution for a full range of heat exchangers using clean flue gas. There are two types of spiral fin tubes: solid type and serrated type.

 

Helical solid fin tubes are made by helically wrapping a continuous strip of fins around the tube. High frequency resistance welding typically uses a frequency of 400 kHz. The fins are wrapped around the tube and welded continuously. The fin tape is helically wound on the tube and welded continuously to the base tube along the root of the helix by a high frequency electrical process. The fin strips are held under tension and laterally constrained as they are formed around the tube, ensuring firm contact between the fin strips and the surface of the base tube. Using a gas metal arc welding process, a continuous weld is made at the point where the fin strip first begins to bend around the pipe diameter.
