254 SMO REDUCER A403 S31254-W STAINLESS STEEL BUTT WELD FITTING
Overview
254 SMO Pipe Fittings are made with a good chemical composition of chromium, molybdenum and nickel. This enables these fittings to exhibit excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance properties in various systems. 254 SMO Butt-weld Fittings have low concentrations of carbon but possess superior mechanical properties. They possess a minimum tensile strength of 551Mpa and a minimum yield strength of 241Mpa. ASTM 403 254 SMO Reducer is used to adapt pipes of different sizes in various piping systems. They are also used in instances when the flow is increased or decreased within the system. They are available either as concentric or eccentric reducers.
254smo steel is a high alloy stainless steel composed of elements such as nickel, molybdenum, chromium, and nitrogen. It has many unique characteristics, making it widely used in many fields. Firstly, 254smo steel has excellent corrosion resistance. It can resist various corrosive media, including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, chloride, etc. This makes it an ideal material choice in fields such as chemical engineering and ocean engineering. Secondly, 254smo steel has excellent oxidation resistance. It can maintain stable performance in high-temperature environments and is not prone to oxidation reactions. This makes it have broad application prospects in high-temperature furnaces, petrochemical and other fields. In addition, 254smo steel has good mechanical properties. It has high strength and hardness, as well as good plasticity and toughness. This enables it to meet the requirements of various complex processes in the manufacturing field. Finally, 254smo steel has good welding performance. It can be processed through various welding methods, and the strength and corrosion resistance of welded joints are excellent. This makes it easy to assemble and install in the engineering field.
Advantages of 254 SMO material:
- Great resistance against pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion, PRE≥42,5
- High resistance against general corrosion and stress corrosion
- Higher durability than conventional austenitic stainless steel types
- Good weldability
254 SMO VS SS316
Grade | SMO 254 | Stainless Steel 316 |
Corrosion Resistance | Excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion | Generally more resistant than 304; good in atmospheric environments and many corrosive media |
Strength | Twice that of stainless steel 300 series | Lower than SMO 254 |
Machinability | Difficult due to high work hardening rate and lack of sulfur content | Good |
Weldability | Requires filler materials for good strength properties | Excellent |
Heat Resistance | Good up to 1204 °C | Good up to 870 °C |
Hardening | Not responsive to heat treatment | Only possible through cold reduction |
Applications | Saltwater handling, tall oil distillation columns, flue gas desulfurization scrubbers, petroleum production components, food processing equipment, chemical industry process equipment, pulp and paper industry bleaching equipment, flue-gas cleaning, desalination, heat exchangers | Industrial, architectural, and transportation fields; marine environments |
