ASTM B165 Monel400 N04400 Nickel Alloy Steel Pipe 

Monel 400 is a solid solution alloy consisting of nickel and copper. While the nickel content is about 67%, the copper content in the Monel 400 pipe chemistry is about 23%. Typical of most nickel-containing alloys, this grade tends to have high strength even at high temperatures. Although Monel 400 seamless tubing is not recommended for use in temperatures above 1000°F.

The melting point of this Monel alloy is between 2370°F – 2460°F. The high melting point indicates better dimensional stability of ASTM B165 Alloy 400, especially since high temperatures often cause changes in the flow of metal molecules, which alter their physical appearance. The marine engineering industry prefers ASTM B725 UNS N04400 welded pipe for a variety of operational purposes because of its higher copper content. Copper is known for its rich properties as an alloying agent in components such as Monel 400 rectangular tubes, including resistance to seawater or saline solutions.

Another feature that makes 400 Monel alloy square tube attractive in the marine industry is the alloy's low corrosion rate in fast-flowing brackish water. These properties, combined with the excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking found in many freshwater sources, make this alloy indispensable.
