Overview
Iron-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy cold-worked annealed or hot-worked annealed seamless tubes and pipes for special corrosive service and heat-resistant applications. Tubes and pipes shall be supplied in solution heat treated and descaled condition. When bright annealed treatment is used, rust removal is not required. Tensile strength, yield strength and elongation shall conform to specified values. Tubes and pipes shall be hydrostatically tested.
AL6XN is a super-austenitic stainless steel with excellent resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.AL6XN is a 6-molybdenum alloy developed for and used in highly corrosive environments. It has high nickel (24%), molybdenum (6.3%), nitrogen and chromium content, giving it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, and excellent general corrosion resistance. AL6XN is primarily used to improve its ability to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride. It is a formable and weldable stainless steel.
Due to its nitrogen content, AL6XN has greater tensile strength than normal austenitic stainless steels while retaining high ductility and impact strength.
